Tonight, after my 17 hour, three flight journey, I met a pilgrim (Individuals who walk the way of St. James) in order to test their physical limits and become closer to God). In earlier times, these brave souls did not work, but in these modern times they work and take their “caminos” during their holiday.
When I walked into the pilgrim hostel (Albergue Acuario) I was warmly greeted with strange looks as I entered with two large suitcases and a rolling bag. Two of my suitcases being embossed with alligator print and lime green in color. My roommate asked, “Are you doing your camino with all of those bags??” I quickly explained my reason for carrying such an extensive luggage load, "I will be here in Spain for eight months teaching English".
So here I am in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Tomorrow is a new day! Permanent room hunting. Wish me luck! –I don’t think I want to be a pilgrim longer than a couple of nights…
