Here in Touro, about a twenty minute drive from Santiago de Compostela, I will be working as a English assistant in a school that has students from 6-16 years of age. I will be working in 11 different classes. Three of the classes are arts and crafts classes(my favorite!). The point of this assignment is to teach language through cultural exchange and conversation.
Besides being 5 HOURS early(there was a schedule discrepancy), the day was very enjoyable. I was able to meet many teachers, help out with English translation, and attend three of my classes.
The students were 'muy amables y llamativas'(very nice and talkative). I did a presentation to introduce them to the United States and it's culture and answered question about myself.
Lunch was amazing! I was only able to eat two of the three courses, sad face. But I ate cream of broccoli soup, fresh bread, fruit, and a apple empananda. Everyday the food is freshly made at the school(US Dept of Ed. take notes!).
*Note: Everyday someone brings in sliced salami and bread for the daily snack in the Teacher's Lounge. I think I'll start bringing in carrot sticks, apple slices, and nutella or cheese ;)*
